Set up AI Rank Tracker

Connect your own API keys, add your brand and prompts, and run your first check.

Connect an AI provider

  1. Open AI Rank Tracker in your workspace, then Settings.
  2. Paste an API key from OpenAI, Perplexity, Anthropic, or Google AI Studio into its provider card. Choose a model, select Include this engine, and save.
  3. Use Test key to check the connection. Perplexity’s test makes a small paid request and asks you to confirm its cost. Other key tests check access without generating an answer.

One provider is enough to start. A consumer ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini subscription does not supply API credit. Your provider bills your API account directly. Keys are encrypted, and saved keys are never shown in full.

Add your brand and competitors

In Brands, add your own brand name, aliases, and domains. Add competitors separately. Enable plain-s matching only when it fits your brand name. Use the matching test to check ambiguous names and overlaps before running paid checks.

Choose your questions

In Prompts, enter one customer question per line and optional comma-separated tags. You can save up to 100 prompts and turn individual prompts on or off. Free starter suggestions are editable; optional AI suggestions use a connected provider and show an estimate before confirmation.

Checks send the exact prompt you save. Country is an optional hint for search-enabled providers. The language setting controls AI prompt suggestions.

Run your first check

  1. Set your monthly provider budget in Settings. The default is USD 5; zero pauses new paid requests.
  2. Return to Dashboard and choose Run your first check for one prompt and one engine.
  3. Review the estimate and confirm. Progress continues in the cloud even if you close the browser.
  4. Open an answer to see its text, brand matches, citations, model, timing, and recorded cost.
Budget estimates

The tracker reserves estimated costs before sending requests. Actual provider charges can differ. Your provider’s billing records and provider-side limits remain authoritative. A request with an uncertain outcome is not sent again automatically.

Keep tracking

Use Run checks to select prompts, engines, and one to three samples. In Settings, create weekly, fortnightly, or four-weekly schedules with a day, hour, and timezone. The next run is displayed there.

Optional email summaries go to your verified account email after scheduled runs. Turn them off in Settings at any time. The workspace’s displayed run allowance and concurrency limit also apply.
