Create your OpenAI API key
- Sign in to the OpenAI API Platform and select the project you want to use.
- Open that project’s API keys page and choose Create new secret key.
- Give the key a clear name and choose permissions that allow the API requests you intend to make.
- Create the key and copy the secret to a safe place immediately.
Use a project key
Use a regular project API key for StackMango, not an organization Admin API key. If you lose the secret, create a replacement key.
Save it in StackMango
- Open Settings and find Provider connections.
- Select OpenAI, paste the new secret key, and choose Save key.
Keep your key private
Only enter the secret in the secure Provider connections form. Do not put it in a contact message, public document, or website code.
Security and provider costs
OpenAI API usage has its own billing and limits in the OpenAI Platform. Review them before running tools. If a key is exposed or no longer needed, replace or delete it in the OpenAI Platform and update or remove the saved key in StackMango.
